Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 2 Task 1

Hello fellow bloggers,
today my first task is a House or a Home here is the little piece  of writing,

In the 1800s, most Māori lived in villages called pa. Each village had many buildings – kauta where people cooked, pataka where they stored goods and wharepuni where the Māori slept. A traditional wharepuni had a thatched roof and walls made of timber, fern, rushes and bark. Look at the picture below of a traditional wharepuni. Does it look like your house?
Here is my instructions for this task,

On your blog, compare the wharepuni to your own home. What are two similarities and two differences between a wharepuni and your house?

Similarity: You can sleep in it.

Differences: A house you can call A home and a wharepuni you can't.
There are the similarity and differences.

Hello fellow bloggers,
my last blog post for today is my bonus task Here are my bonus  task is called Ama Waka  here is my small peice of writing
To this day, the people of New Zealand still use waka. Instead of using their waka to transport them from one place to another, they sometimes use waka in special events and in sporting competitions such as Waka Ama. Both boys and girls compete in Waka Ama boat races.
Here are my instructions for my bonus task
Watch this short video of a Waka Ama race. On your blog tell us whether you would like to be in a Waka Ama race one day. Why or why not?

I would love to be in a Waka Ama one day because I could really posh my self to make it.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1Task 2

Hello Fellow Bloggers
This week for day 1 for Summer Learning Journey I have task 2 witch is setting sail here is the small story that they gave me for my second task today
The first settlers to come to New Zealand must have been really brave! They had to leave their original homes and sail thousands of miles across the ocean on a special boat called a ‘waka’ to reach New Zealand.
And here is the instructions for this task
Imagine that you were on board one of the wakas. On your blog, write a short letter to a friend telling them about your voyage to New Zealand. In the letter be sure to tell them how you feel about moving to a new country. If it was me, I would have felt really nervous…

Dear Cerys
I am moving to a new country by waka , I am feeling really nervous but existed at the same time wish me good luck in my new country Cerys

Week 1 Day 1 Task 1 of the Summer Learning Journey

Hello Fellow Bloggers
Happy Holidays,
This year I have sighed up for Summer Learning Journey.
Today I have for you task 1 of  week 1.
This task is  The First Settlers here is the small piece of writing I got for my task, It is widely believed that the first people to arrive in New Zealand came from Polynesia Most historians believe that they landed in New Zealand over 700 years ago. Although they were originally from many different countries, these settlers learned to live together and, eventually, formed their own distinct culture known as ‘Māori.’  Māori have their own language, traditions, and culture.

Follow this link to read a short story about a famous man in Māori mythology – Maui. On your blog, post three facts that you learned about this interesting man.

Here is my 3 facts about Maui,
Maui is strong, he likes to trick people (in the story from the link he tricked his older brothers) and he comes from Aotearoa. (New Zealand)

End of Term 4 Recount Test.

This is a screenshot of my results in our end of Term 4 recount writing test.
My teachers have worked out my average score for writing and I am at 3B.
This is at the National Standard for my year level.
I am doing great at ideas, structure, organisation, vocabulary, sentences and spelling.

I  need to work harder at punctuation next year.

My Margret Peters Spelling Progress.

Hello fellow bloggers
Here is my progress over this year in spelling. At the beginning of this year I scored 33 in the M. Peters spelling test. This gave me a spelling age of 9.2 years.

In term 4 of this year I scored 39 in the  M. Peters spelling test. This gave me a spelling age of 11.6.

I think I did way better than my last M Peters spelling test because I improved my points by 6.
