Pleading a Cause - Persuasive Writing

This week I wrote my last practice of my Persuasive Writing before our test. We read the story of the Minotaur. Then we write a note to king Minos about why the youths should live.

Pleading a Cause - Persuasive Writing

Pretend you are the King of Athens.  Write a letter to King Minos, pleading for the lives of the youths who are to be fed to the Minotaur.
Give at least 3 reasons why their lives should be spared.
Remember to write a conclusion at the end to link your reasons together.

Dear King Minos,
I am writing to you about the fate of the nine doomed youths.  I plead for their release on the grounds that:

My first reason why the youths should stay alive is they would have a long life ahead of them and they are the future of us .

My second reason is why blame the youths because your son died at Athens.

My third and final reason is you have a daughter you should be caring for, so why would you use them.

The three reasons including the future of our youths, your son dying in my kingdom are not  good enough reasons to kill the youths and you have a daughter so why use our youths.

Yours faithfully,
King of Athens
