Last week we did some argument writing. The year 5 & 6s wrote a speech for a contest in Kaikohe. The winners of it were Willow and Depla. They should have their speech on their blogs, anyway, here is my speech.
Why we should ban alcohol.
I make you angry and drunk, what am I? I’m alcohol. Hi my name is Charlie and I’m here to tell you why alcohol should be banned in New Zealand, and all other countries in the world.
Firstly alcohol can make you say silly things. You could get into a big fight, you could go to hospital because you got really really badly hurt or you could get tasered by the police because you were being stupid and over all you could lose a really good friend that day.
Secondly alcohol makes you drunk, you could be going home in your brand new car then stop focusing on the road which will cause a big crash and you could get really hurt. Or worse you could get pulled over by the police man because you were going way too fast or driving all over the road and you could lose your license or hurt someone else really badly.
Finally it can give you diseases like cancer, lung diseases and diabetes etc. I also found out that over 2.5 million people die each year worldwide due to alcohol related causes.These deaths are only one of the many reasons why alcohol should be banned. So I hope I convinced you to stop drinking alcohol and start drinking more water, milk and juice. If I can make one of you believe that we should ban alcohol and to stop drinking it that is one life saved. I hope you agree with me.
